Tz’i’is the law, the authority, its representative is the dog,pictured in this piece is the xoloitzcuintl, one of original dog breeds of “Meso-America”. It’s the authority and the guardian of the material and spiritual law. This piece shows an elder who holds the staff of authority, he is Ajq’ijab(day keeper) who counts the Tzite bundle. The Tzite or “red bean” which comes from the “Palo de pito” (also shown in picture) is used communicate and connect with the Uk’u’x Kaj (Heart of the Heavens), Uk’u’x ja’ (Heart of Water), Uk’u’x I’q (Heart of the Air) .
